Meta-Majors at UCCS

Choosing a major can feel like a daunting decision. At UCCS, we have created meta majors and pathways to help you explore areas of interest around six academic and career-related themes. 

You can select a meta major, enroll in appropriate classes for your interests, and move forward towards declaring a major with personalized support. Advisors and Career Services will partner with you to help you narrow your focus and broaden your understanding of all the majors, careers, and options available to you.

Arts, Humanities, and Media
Are you a creator, a critical thinker, historian, or explorer at heart?

This pathway provides access to a range of programs within the arts, humanities and media studies. Students pursuing these programs can expect to explore critical thinking, cultures, history, creative arts, film and media studies, and language.

Business and Entrepreneurship
Are you an innovator, a communicator, decision-maker, leader or strategic thinker?

This pathway provides students an opportunity to explore business, innovation and entrepreneurship. Students can continue on to major in Business, Economics, Communication, or pursue one of the Bachelors of Innovation degrees that seeks an interdisciplinary approach to Business, Engineering, Technology and Entrepreneurship in a variety of fields.

This pathway is designed for students interested in teaching students from birth through high school as well as help students explore additional careers in education, such as counseling, human services, corporate and health education.

Are you interested in medical care, human physiology, exercise science, or behavioral health?

This pathway is designed for students interested in health fields. Health fields are a diverse group of majors and careers where students can explore human physiology, wellness, nutrition, medical sciences, strength and conditioning and behavioral science.

Do you love problem solving, technical challenges, experimenting in labs or designing hardware or software?

This pathway is designed for students interested in the sciences, engineering, and technology. Students in this pathway can expect to explore the natural and physical world, applied science, critical thinking, problem solving, and technology.

Do you want to serve the greater good or study how people engage in the world around them?

This pathway provides access to a range of programs within the social and behavioral sciences. Students pursuing these programs can expect to explore human development, social behavior, public affairs, as well as historical, global, and political analysis.
